On Tuesday, 31 January 2023, at around 1:00 A.M., two masked settlers entered the northern neighborhood of the town of al-Birah. The two, who were caught on security cameras, punctured the tires of 38 cars. Twenty-three of the cars had all four tires punctured. The settlers also sprayed a Star of David on two cars and graffitied “Neve Yaakov says hi,” and “Price Tag” on the fence of one of the houses.
Local residents called the police, and officers arrived at the neighborhood along with soldiers at around 4:30 P.M. that day and took statements from the residents and photos of the damage. The police took the security cameras’ DVR and returned it to the DCO several days later.
This was not the first time settlers had come to the neighborhood and damaged residents’ property. Since 2019, B’Tselem has documented three different incidents in which settlers came to the neighborhood, vandalized cars and sprayed graffiti - on 23 October 2019, 9 November 2021 and 22 March 2022.
