Um Safa, Ramallah District: Israeli settlers vandalize property and steal belongings in farmland and village cemetery

On Sunday afternoon, 12 February 2023, ‘Abd a-Naser Qatami (55) discovered settlers had vandalized the gate leading into his land south of the village of Um Safa, entered the plot and stolen belongings. The settlers smashed four solar panels and three floodlights, and destroyed three water tanks, the window of an agricultural structure, and a refrigerator and household utensils within the structure. They also broke 15 olive tree saplings that were four years old, 15 lemon tree saplings and 15 vine saplings, and stole hammers, an axe and a grinding machine. Qatami called the Palestinian DCO, and the next day Israeli DCO officials arrived with a military escort and took his statement.

That day, the head of the Um Safa village council, Marwan Sabah (42), discovered settlers had entered the village cemetery, vandalized the door of a shed and three water tanks, and stolen security cameras and farming equipment.
