On the night of Wednesday, 23 August 2023, ‘Azzam Nawaj’ah (57) was woken up by the sound of his dogs barking. He stepped out but could not see anything in the dark. When he went back inside to get a flashlight, he heard a gunshot outside. Nawaj’ah went out again and saw some settlers gathered around a car about 50 meters away from his home, one of them on horseback.
When Nawaj’ah’s neighbors came out of their houses, the settler on the horse proclaimed he was permitted to be there as it was Area C, and then all the settlers left the village.
Residents had called the police, which took about thirty minutes to arrive. The officers looked for the bullet and could not find it. They suggested the villagers file a complaint at the police station and then left.
