On Thursday, 17 August 2023, around 3:00 P.M., when Akram ‘Umran (54), a resident of Burin, was at home, he noticed two settlers in his olive grove southwest of the village and saw fire rising from the 40-dunam plot (1 dunam = 1,000 sq. meters). At that time, only about 10 olive trees, more than 90 years old, remained in the grove, after settlers had already burnt dozens of olive trees there on 16 July 2023.
‘Umran arrived in the area and saw the settlers throwing burning tires into his plot, above which an outpost had been set up. He watched from a distance because he was afraid he would be attacked if he came closer. After returning home, he saw the entire plot had burnt down and not a single tree remained.
