On Tuesday, 5 September 2023, at around 2:30 A.M., Sbitan ‘Awawdeh (52) woke up to noises near his residential tent on the outskirts of the village of Deir Dobwan, close to Route 60. When he went out to check what was making the noise, he found about six settlers walking around the encampment and immediately woke up his six children and took them to the village. ‘Awawdeh then returned to the encampment together with other village residents and discovered the settlers had set fire to his family’s residential tent, as a result of which, a gas tank exploded and destroyed the contents of the tent. Another tent used as a livestock enclosure was partially burned. The flock itself managed to escape with only one goat lightly injured in the leg. The fire also consumed two tons of fodder for the flock. The residents managed to put out the fire before a Palestinian fire truck arrived.
