Khirbet a-Radhem, South Hebron Hills: Israeli settlers harass residents in their homes for several days

On Friday, 1 September 2023, at around 9:00 P.M., three settlers arrived in an ATV at the community of Kh. a-Radhem and walked around the tents belonging to ‘Issa Abu al-Kabash (Abu Safi) (76), while he was away. They shined laser lights on the tents and harassed the mother and daughters for about an hour. Abu al-Kabash called the Israeli police, but the officers refused to come to the scene and suggested he file a complaint at the station.

The next day, Saturday, 23 September 2023, at around 11:00 A.M., three settlers returned to Kh. a-Radhem and went to a water cistern located about 100 meters away from the family home of ‘Amer al-Mahariq (50), removed a pipe, threw it away and left. The family uses the cistern for household needs and for watering their livestock.

That day, at around 6:00 P.M., settlers arrived at the scene in a car as al-Mahariq was grazing his flock together with international activists and drove to the western area of the community. The next day, al-Mahariq discovered they had vandalized the cover of another water cistern located about 700 meters to the west of his house and a bucket used for pumping water.

The settlers returned to the community for the following two days, harassing residents, who called the police each time to no avail.
