She’b al-Batem, South Hebron Hills: Israeli settlers attack a resident of Kh. al-Halawah and steal a donkey, groceries and medicine

On Monday, 4 September 2023, at around 4:00 P.M., Isma’il Abu ‘Aram (39), from Kh. al-Halawah, was riding his donkey through She’b al-Batem as he made his way home from the town of al-Karmel. When he was near a tent that settlers had pitched in the area, six of them came out and shouted at him. One of the settlers ordered Abu ‘Aram to dismount, while another filmed him. When Abu ‘Aram dismounted the donkey, the settlers assaulted him, knocked him down to the ground and beat him until he lost consciousness.

When he recovered, he discovered the settlers had stolen the donkey and the groceries and medicines that were on his back. He returned to She’b al-Batem and a local resident called paramedics who came and gave him first aid. His brother, Tareq Abu ‘Aram then came and drove him to the hospital in Yatta, where he was examined and discharged a few hours later. Tareq Abu ‘Aram filed a complaint at the Kiryat Arba police station the next day.
