A-Taybah, Ramallah district: A settler attacked a couple, 76 and 68, harvesting olives in their grove

On Thursday morning, 26 October 2023, Khalil (76) and Eliana (68) Basir went to their olive grove east of the village, which has about 350 trees, and started harvesting them. About an hour later, some 10 settlers arrived, some of them bearing firearms and others clubs. One of them attacked Khalil with a club, hitting him on his knees, back, and arm until he screamed in pain. When Eliana pleaded with the settler to stop beating her husband, he assaulted her too, hitting her on the arm with the club. The settlers then left.

The couple returned to their car, and Khalil managed to drive to the clinic in Silwad. There, the two were examined and X-rayed, finding that Eliana's arm was broken and Khalil was bruised. They were treated and discharged. Since then, they have not gone back to their land for fear of another attack.

That morning, settlers attacked and severely beat three residents of the nearby community of Badu Jebas, driving two of the four families to decide to leave due to the ongoing violence.
