On Sunday, 7 July 2024, at around 2:00 P.M., two settlers grazed a flock of about 50 sheep in a grove on land owned by the Harini family on the eastern side of the village of a-Tuwani. One of the family members, Muhammad Harini, in his twenties, arrived at the grove with some Israeli activists, and when they tried to drive the sheep away, soldiers arrived in a military jeep and accused Harini of attacking the settlers. The soldiers detained Harini and the activists and took their ID cards. In the meantime, more soldiers arrived on the scene, raising their number to ten. One of the soldiers was masked. In addition, more than ten other settlers arrived as well, some armed with clubs or firearms. The soldiers and the settlers talked and joked with each other while the settlers' sheep continued to graze in the grove.
At around 6:00 P.M, the settlers and three of the activists got into a confrontation, which included mutual shoving. One of the settlers was filmed kicking an activist's leg and hitting another in the head with his elbow before leaving the scene. A settler was filmed kicking Harini in the back and some settlers were filmed snatching two phones the activists were using to film.
The police arrived about two hours after the activists called them. The officers detained Harini, handcuffed him and took him to the Kiryat Arba police station, where he was questioned for allegedly attacking settlers. He was not released until 11:00 P.M., under orders not to access his land for five days.
