Burin, Nablus District: Settlers and soldiers drove out harvesters and stole olives

On Saturday, 9 October 2024, around 6:30 A.M., three farmers from Burin went to their land, about 100 meters from Route 60, to harvest olives after receiving permission from the Israeli DCO, though such permission was not required in previous years. Around 8:30 A.M., a settlement guard from Yitzhar arrived in his vehicle along with four soldiers, all of whom the residents recognized as settlers.

The settlers cursed the farmers, explained that they were the only ones to decide on permission to harvest there, drove them out and threatened to harm them if they returned. The settlers stole the sacks of olives the residents had harvested, scattered the olives remaining on the tarps and slashed the tarps. Meanwhile, three military vehicles arrived, and soldiers who got out helped the settlers drive away other farmers who were harvesting in nearby plots.
