On Tuesday morning, 22 October 2024, farmer ‘Imad Hamad (45) went with his six brothers to harvest olives on their land in the Ramin Plain, southeast of the village. Around 9:00 A.M., an armed settler they recognized from a nearby outpost came and asked if they had permission to harvest there. When the farmers said they did not need permission to pick olives on their land, the settler left.
Around noon, he returned with seven other settlers and about four soldiers. In front of the soldiers, the settlers poured the sacks of olives out on the ground and cut a diesel fuel pipe and electrical cables on ‘Imad’s tractor, using shears they found in the tractor’s box. To avoid a confrontation with the settlers, the farmers left. They returned two hours later, when they saw the settlers and soldiers had left. They repaired the damage to the tractor, but did not continue the harvest.
That day, a group of settlers tried to drive out farmers harvesting olives in another part of Ramin’s lands, but soldiers who arrived stopped them and allowed the farmers to continue harvesting.
