Israel forcibly displaced the community of Wad al-Abyad (East al-Maniyah) in Bethlehem District - the 21st forcibly displaced community since 7 October 2023

On Friday, February 14, 2025, at 2:00 A.M., dozens of settlers descended on the community of Wad al-Abeyd, located on lands belonging to the village of al-Maniyah Bethlehem District. The 54 members of the community belong to five extended families and lived in several clusters. The settlers destroyed Ya’qub Shalalda’s livestock enclosure and threatened to hurt him if he did not leave. The settlers then walked around the tents, yelling and threatening residents until 6:00 A.M., at which point they set off in the direction of an outpost established about 300 meters from Shalalda’s house.

That afternoon, about 50 settlers appeared in the community again, attacked homes, smashed car windows and solar panels, and caused further property damage. The settlers attacked residents with clubs and stones, injuring seven of them. They set a dog they had brought with them on one of the Palestinian residents, and it bit him. The settlers also pepper-sprayed another resident in the face. Some community members left that day. The following day, Saturday, 15 February 2024, some of the residents demolished their own homes to prevent settlers from claiming them, and all members of the community left and moved to the village of al-Maniyah.

Yesterday, Sunday, 16 February 2024, Border Police forces arrived and demolished the settlers’ outpost, but the settlers rebuilt it that same day.

The community had 13 homes and 9 livestock enclosures.
