On Monday morning, 17 March 2025, ‘Imran Nawaj'ah, 48, his wife, Iman, 47, and their neighbor, Ahmad Jaber, 37, were grazing their sheep near their home in Khirbet Susiya.
Around 7:00 A.M., two settlers wearing masks and armed with clubs arrived at the hill opposite the shepherds and went towards them. When the settlers got closer, they began shouting at Ahmad and throwing stones at him. Meanwhile, other residents gathered at the scene, including B'Tselem field researcher Nasser Nawaj'ah, who arrived to document the incident. The villagers called the police, and the settlers went back to the hill while making phone calls.
After about 10 minutes, six other masked settlers joined the two settlers, followed by another settler with an uncovered face, who later identified by the residents as Shem Tov Lusky. Lusky spoke with the masked settlers for a while, and then they all descended together toward the shepherds and attacked them with stones again. The residents tried to fend off the settlers with stones. A civilian vehicle passed by carrying soldiers, who observed the situation without intervening and left.
About half an hour later, a police officer arrived at the scene, and Lusky went over to speak with him. Nasser Nawaj'ah warned the officer that Lusky was trying to distract him in order to allow the other settlers to leave. In response, the officer forcefully dragged Nawaj'ah and put him in the patrol car. After about an hour, Nawaj'ah was released on the spot.
As a result of the attack, two residents were injured. ‘Imran Nawaj'ah, 48, was hit in the leg by a stone and his wife, Iman, 47, was hit by a stone above her left eye.
B'Tselem field researcher Nasser Nawaj'ah reported:
"I went over to the officer and said, “The settler Lusky is trying to distract you so the other settlers can escape.” The officer ignored me, but I insisted. He said to me in anger, 'You’re under arrest' and put me in the police car.
We’ve lost our security and safety, and are being judged simply for existing on our land. This is what happens when the victim becomes the accused.”
