On Tuesday, 17 December 2024, around 1:30 A.M., while Khalil ‘Abd al-’Aal (45) lay in bed speaking with his wife and three daughters, he heard the main gate of their home open. ‘Abd al-’Aal got up to investigate and, looking through the window facing his parked car, saw a settler holding what appeared to be a metal bar standing approximately two meters away. The settler smashed the car’s rear window and threw an object inside, causing a rapid flare-up in the vehicle’s rear section.
‘Abd al-’Aal opened the window and shouted at the settler, who backed away slightly toward the gate. ‘Abd al-‘Aal then stepped outside and saw three settlers, one armed with a rifle. They fled northwest, toward the settlement of Kerem Re’im. Meanwhile, ‘Abd al-’Aal’s wife and daughters put out the fire, which had already consumed the car’s rear.
