Deir Razih, Hebron District: Israeli settlers threatened a farmer, uprooted saplings, and took over water cisterns with military assistance

On Tuesday afternoon, 6 April 2025, six masked settlers blocked the path of Saher ‘Amro, a resident of the village of Deir Razih southwest of Hebron, as he was returning home on a tractor. The settlers, who were masked and armed with clubs, had come from the direction of the Havat Otniel outpost. They threatened ‘Amro, tried to snatch the keys to his tractor, and retreated only when other Palestinian residents arrived at the scene.

On their way back to the outpost, the settlers trespassed onto the ‘Amro family’s farmland and uprooted 30 olive saplings.

Since the beginning of the year, settlers have been bringing their livestock into the village’s wheat, barley, and bean fields and destroying the crops. Although village residents have repeatedly called the police, nothing has been done, and the settlers have continued to damage their farmlands.

When the outpost of Havat Otniel was established on a hill overlooking the village in December 2024, settlers destroyed a water cistern used to irrigate crops and blocked a central access road to the village. They placed caravans on the hill, brought in sheep, and took over water cisterns with the military’s help.
