On Friday, 28 October 2022, at around 9:00 A.M., members of the Abu Ziyadah family went to harvest olives on their land near the village, with the help of about 20 Palestinian and Israeli volunteers. After they started working, a group of settlers arrived. They shouted at the harvesters, demanded they leave and threatened them. A verbal confrontation ensued. The settlers called soldiers, who arrived at around 10:00 A.M. and demanded the harvesters leave, claiming it was a closed military zone. The soldiers refused to show the harvesters an order declaring the area closed.
Meanwhile, about 10 more settlers came and started vandalizing the harvesters' cars with stones. They smashed the windows of 10 cars: Ahmad Abu Ziyadah’s car, five cars belonging to Israeli volunteers, and four cars belonging to Palestinian volunteers. When the settlers noticed that Palestinian volunteer Jalal Abu Khater (29) was filming them, they chased him and he fell, sustaing a leg wound from an iron rod. Abu Khater and a teenage Palestinian volunteer who was with him called for the help of other volunteers who were about 200 meters away from them. The settlers and soldiers left shortly after that.
The owners of the vandalized cars filed complaints with the police.
