Badu Jebas (East a-Taybah), Ramallah District: After repeated attacks and harassment by Israeli settlers, five families left the community and six others moved closer to nearby villages

The shepherding community of Badu Jebas (East a-Taybah) is located east of the village of a-Taybah. On 27 October 2023, six families from the community, numbering 19 people, left their homes following a severe settler attack and moved about one kilometer east, to an area classified in the Oslo Accords as Area B, closer to the homes of a-Taybah village.

In June 2025, settlers established an outpost where the homes of three of the families forced out in 2023 had stood. Since then, the settlers have been harassing the residents of Badu Jebas day and night. As a result, another family, numbering eight people, left one month after the outpost was established.

In August 2025, settlers attacked the community several times. Early in the month, community members woke up to the sound of pounding on their homes, and when they stepped out, they came across three masked settlers who were throwing stones at their windows and then attacked them with stones as well.

On another night, a resident of the community woke up to find a settler peeking through her bedroom window. Residents who woke up to her screams noticed two other settlers cutting fences in yards. One of the settlers pointed a rifle at residents who approached. The settlers then left the area. In other incidents, settlers drove ATVs into the community in the dead of night and honked their horns to wake residents and frighten them.

On Tuesday, 26 August 2025, at around 8:00 A.M., a settler tried to take his flock into a bed of sage in a community resident’s yard. The resident blocked his way, and the settler called in additional settlers, including Neria Ben Pazi, who is under international sanctions over violent acts. Soon after, a military force arrived and the settlers dispersed.

On Wednesday, 27 August 2025, at around 8:00 A.M., four more families, numbering about 17 people in total, decided to leave. One family moved to al-‘Auja, and the others moved to another area in the community, closer to the villages of a-Taybah and Rammun and farther from the outpost. As the family members were trying to pack their belongings, a settler from the nearby outpost fired at them several times, and they were forced to flee, leaving much of their belongings behind.

Less than a month later, on Wednesday, 17 September 2025, a settler arrived with his flock in the area to which the six families had moved and began provoking the residents. The settler opened the water taps of one of the families, fed his flock from their fodder and brought the flock into their livestock enclosure.

When the family members tried to get the settler’s flock out of the enclosure, he called in additional settlers and soldiers, who arrived in civilian and military vehicles. The settlers and soldiers spread out among the community’s tents, and more soldiers blocked the access road to the area.

The settlers attacked and injured residents using clubs, stones and the butts of their rifles, then took the residents’ flocks out of two pens and stole them while the soldiers threatened the residents at gunpoint. The settlers also broke into the residential tents of some of the families and stole money, jewelry and other items. They then left the area with about 120 of the residents’ sheep and goats, as well as the stolen items, and headed in the direction of the nearby outpost.

Following the attack, three more families left the community.
